EUREKA, CA – After putting in their membership dues to the National Premier Soccer League less than a week ago, the North Coast Tsunami will play their first exhibition game on Saturday, December 10th, against Real San Jose Soccer Club. Kickoff at 2:00 p.m. at Yerba Buena High School in San Jose, CA.
"We’re looking forward to playing Real San Jose," said team owner, general manager and coach Alan Exley. "They should give us a good test and will allow us to see the caliber of soccer in the NPSL."
North Coast Tsunami combines college-aged players with the experience of men in their thirties; something Exley is hoping will play to their advantage. Members of the team bring a range of experience from collegiate to the national level and include Humboldt State and College of the Redwoods soccer alumni, as well as players who have grown up locally to Eureka, CA.
Exley, who has experience coaching at Humboldt State and College of the Redwoods, has already scheduled a number of exhibition games for his Tsunami team to prepare for the 2012 NPSL season. Fans can look for a schedule to come out in January, 2012, with all home games being played at the College of the Redwoods Community Stadium.
North Coast Tsunami will compete in the NPSL’s West Division that includes Real San Jose, Sacramento Gold, Sonoma County Sol, Bay Area Ambassadors and Hollywood United, who was the runner-up of the 2011 NPSL Championship.
Admission for Saturday’s game is $5.00 for adults, $3.00 for youth under 18 years of age, and free for children under 12 years accompanied by a paying adult.
